Welcome
... to the Small Town New Zealand website.
There are increasing challenges facing towns, suburbs and rural communities. Sharing of ideas, experiences and initiatives are important for us all to move forward in a strong, connected way.
We are small towns but have big hearts.
The inaugural New Zealand Small Town Conference 2008 – Creating Your Town's Future – held in Bulls was unforget-a-bull, and it proved that sharing of information and connecting with like-minded leaders in communities was of enormous benefit. This
type of forum brings with it opportunities in the future for all of us as this grows. In 2009 Kaiapoi made a commitment to support the continuation of the Small Town legacy and hosted us with Riding The River of Change. As a river changes so do towns.
South Taranaki District presented a dynamic showcase of small towns in their district, which took us all to be hosted in the town of Hawera. The Small Town Advisory Group are delighted to announce the 4th National Conference which is to be held on the West Coast of the
beautiful South Island. As a representative of this group it is my pleasure to introduce the host for 2011: Hokitika – Where size doesn’t matter.

To be a part of the Small Town Group please become a member of the Small Town Google Group by logging on to the website here – it's free, it's easy, and it will be an important part of communication between us all to share ideas, post questions, discussions
and keep the dialogue continuing.
The Small Town New Zealand orgnisation is governed by the Small Town Conference Advisory Group.
